More people in the labor pool means more people without a job. The labor force rose by 1,069 people of the month from June to July. During that same time span, 689 people joined the ranks of the employed, while the number of unemployed rose by 380. The July jobless rate stood at 6.1 percent vs. 5.9 percent in June.
