Northrop Grumman – Northrop is in the news again after winning a $286 Million Navy contract. The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft is contracted by the U.S. Navy, though the surveillance craft will ultimately go to the government of Japan. Northrop will provide manufacturing and support for the aircraft. 81% of the work will be carried out in Melbourne, with the rest being spread out throughout the U.S. Work on the plane is expected to be completed by September, 2019.

Hawkeye is an airborne, all-weather, early warning system used by the Navy. E-2D is the fourth version of the E-2 Hawkeye. The technology and gadgets fitted in this aircraft increase its visibility on targets far away. E-2D Advanced Hawkeye has a structurally distinctive design – a rotating rotodome and four vertical stabilizer tail configuration – that provides 360-degree surveillance at all times.
