You Deserve a Little Paradise
72 miles of beaches define Brevard County; also called the Space Coast.
The call of the sun and surf established Brevard County as a tourist destination early in its history. Proximity to the ocean is one of the main reasons for locating the space program at Cape Canaveral (along with the southern latitude and the physical characteristics of the cape itself).
But, of course, the beaches aren’t the only thing Brevard County has going for it. Known as “Florida’s Space Coast”, 495 aerospace companies here in 2014, with new ventures being added into the mix. Port Canaveral has become the busiest cruise port in the world with seven cruise lines and six major terminals. It is also one of the largest commercial shipping destinations.
The Space Coast is the largest share of science, technology, engineering and math-related jobs in Florida, according to a 2013 Brookings Institute report. The Milken Institute found the Space Coast is home to the most concentrated high-tech workforce in Florida. Some of its notable employers are Harris, Embraer, and Grumman.
Tourism is a major industry in Brevard County. Our beaches, parks, cruise terminals, and Space related attractions draw people from around the world.
